Decision Making

  • Updated

Supported decision making is about helping people, regardless of age or ability, make their own decisions by using a variety of integrated supports, including other people they trust, technology, community supports, or paid supports. The supports might help a person understand issues/choices, ask questions, receive explanations in a way that works for them, communicate their own decisions to others, or build their own decision-making skills.

Here is an example of a support star to help map out all of the options that people have for supported decision-making:

To edit your Decision Making in the LifeCourse Charting Session, follow these steps:

1. In the LifeCourse Charting Session, click on "Decision Making”

2. Carefully read each question and choose whether you can decide on your own, need support to decide, or if you need someone to decide for you.

3. Click “Save & Continue” at the bottom of the page to save your answers and move on to the questions for the next Life Domain.

4. When you have completed the last domain, click “Save & Continue” again at the bottom of the page to finalize changes.
