What is the Life Trajectory?

Life is a journey where each stage of life impacts the other, and different life experiences bring us closer or further away from our “good life.” In the LifeCourse framework, we use the term “life trajectory” to describe the path your journey takes. It helps you to think about what has helped or hindered you in the past and what might work or may get in your way as you move along your path in life. moving forward.

Individuals and families can focus on a specific life stage, with an awareness of how prior, current, and future life stages and experiences impact and influence their life trajectory. The Life Trajectory can be used as a self-exploration tool that individuals can use to reflect on their own lives and organize their next steps, or by support teams for developing person -centered plans to guide services and supports.

Tips for Using the Life Trajectory Tool

  • Use the Life Trajectory tool to promote discussion, self-awareness, shared knowledge, and facilitate planning with a person and their support team.
